EXTERIOR
Designers aimed to give Hilux a more advanced and modern look while maintaining the tough image New Zealander's appreciate.
Hilux improvements begin with new sheet metal from the A pillar forward, a new bonnet, radiator grille, headlamps and front bumper.
For diesel models, the hood bulge has been redesigned with an enlarged air intake.
The profile has been enhanced by newly designed over fenders on selected 4WD models, redesigned wheels and for SR5 models, turn signals integrated into newly designed door mirrors. At the rear, newly designed tail lamps and a clear high stop light for wellside models round out the upgrade.
Two new exterior colours - Dark Storm and Luster - replace Dusty Grey and Green Aspen.
INTERIOR
Inside, the changes reinforce Hilux's credentials as a lifestyle vehicle.
It offers improved sensory quality throughout the cabin and passenger car levels of convenience.
The new upper dashboard design features a horizontal centre instrument cluster to reinforce the width and roominess of the cabin.
The centre console features new controls for the air conditioning system of all models, while SR5 variants add automatic climate control. The centre cluster for Hilux SR5 models is painted silver.
The driver's side power window controls have been changed to allow for auto up and down, with an anti-jam protection feature.
The new 4 spoke steering wheel has silver ornamentation for a premium look, while audio controls provide control over the upgraded audio systems. Hilux SR5 models have a leather steering wheel with additional Bluetooth and multi-information display controls.
All Hilux models feature new meter designs. These are easier to read, and feature a shift position indicator for automatic transmission models. Hilux 4WD double cab and SR5 models have optitron meters with a comprehensive multi-information display for SR5 grade only.
Side and curtain shield airbags and sports style front seats have been fitted to all Hilux 4WD models. Previously, these features were standard only on SR5 double cabs.
Cruise control is now available for all double cab diesel and extra cab Hilux SR5 models.
The grey interior colour scheme has been revised with a darker instrument panel, door trim, seat upholstery and floor covering.
AUDIO
A key improvement is the addition of advanced new audio systems on all variants.
Todays motorists demand to be "connected" to the outside world, even when they're driving.
All grades feature a single disc CD player with MP3/WMA compatibility, 3.5mm auxiliary input jack and USB jack, Bluetooth handsfree telephone capability and Bluetooth audio streaming and voice control.
Hilux SR5 models add a 6.1" touch screen, SD card slot for images, album cover art display, Bluetooth message access profile for read out of SMS messages, and two extra speakers - taking the total to six.
These new audios feature the latest generation Bluetooth, which has been tested on volume selling smart phones and tablets.
