Prius v's spacious, high-quality interior is packed with family-friendly features.
Designers paid particular attention to the instrument panel layout, with driver related controls having a different background colour to the air conditioning and audio controls to maximise at-a-glance functionality.
A single air conditioning dial controls the cabin temperature, fan speed and air outlet mode adjustment. The simple, user friendly interface is easy to reach and use for both front seat occupants.
The large 6.1 inch or 7 inch audio screen shows album and radio station information as well as information from the reversing camera. The Prius v i-Tech uses its 7 inch screen to display satellite navigation information. A reversing camera is standard for all grades.
A long, sweeping centre console and concave shaped door trims enhance the feeling of airiness in the cabin.
Manual rear side window sun shades are standard equipment on Prius v s-Tech and i-Tech and provide additional comfort for second row occupants.
Prius v and Prius v s-Tech have two-tone grey fabric seats, while the Prius v i-Tech has synthetic leather upholstery.
The new Prius v has a comprehensive package of noise absorption and noise reduction features designed to increase interior comfort while meeting strict weight targets.
There is also raft of convenience features designed for optimum driver concentration and occupant comfort.
When Toyota's touch tracer system was first launched on Prius in 2009, it was the first display system in the world to allow steering wheel controls to read out on the instrument panel. For Prius v s-Tech and i-Tech grades, the system lets the driver control various on-board functions without the need to look down or take their hands from the steering wheel. A further refinement of this system for Prius v sees the touch tracer information displayed on the windscreen, via the Head Up Display (HUD).
The Prius v HUD also includes vehicle speed and air conditioning temperature displays, plus satellite navigation directions and pre-crash system warnings for the Prius v i-Tech.
All Prius v models have a large, centrally located vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) instrument panel for excellent visibility.
To help minimise eye movement, the Hybrid System Indicator, speedometer and shift indicator are all positioned close to the driver. At the centre of the instrument cluster is the drive monitor, with information on current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption and possible cruising range available by operating the 'DISP' switch on the steering wheel.
Detailed fuel consumption and hybrid information is available on the audio display screen, including current fuel consumption, elapsed time, fuel consumption past record and the energy monitor display, with animation. The audio display screen also shows air conditioner status when the driver uses the steering wheel switches for air conditioner control.
Prius v and Prius v s-Tech have a six speaker display audio system with 6.1 inch touch screen and reversing camera. The audio head unit is packed with features, such as an AM/FM tuner, MP3-compatible single CD player, USB/iPod connectivity, 3.5mm auxiliary input jack, Bluetooth phone compatibility and audio streaming.
The LCD touch screen can display FM radio station information (where supported) as well as iPod album cover art and song/artist information. It can also display fuel consumption information.
The Prius v i-Tech has a 7 inch touch screen display with satellite navigation and a premium JBL GreenEdge eight speaker system.
Prius v offers optimum versatility for cabin storage. Storage locations include five cup holders, 500ml bottle holders or A4 sized map holders in the front and rear door trim pockets, two additional 500ml bottle holders in the rear interior trim plus an overhead sunglasses holder for Prius v. The overhead console for Prius v s-Tech and i-Tech has panoramic roof sunshade controls.
There's also an 8.5 litre glove box, 4.5 litre front passenger's side upper box, and a 2.0 litre centre console box capable of holding eight CDs. The shift-by-wire transmission shift makes space for the front cup holders and a 150 by 180mm area front console tray capable of holding a portable audio player or mobile phone.
