Rangiora Toyota has clinched the 2012 Toyota Dealer of the Year supreme award with a record high score in the competition.
Dealers competing for the prestigious Yokoi Cup are assessed on a range of criteria relating to all aspects of their businesses and awarded a score out of 100. Rangiora was the top ranked dealer in the country for 2012 with 88.5 points, the highest score to be achieved since the measurement system was introduced in 2005.
Rangiora Toyota CEO Richard Brown says he is delighted with the win which reflects the efforts of his 50- strong team located in Rangiora, Kaiapoi and Ashburton.
"We don't chase awards. For us, the focus is on being a complete operation so that at the end of the day we can provide great service and do the right thing by our customers. It is fantastic to be recognised for the efforts the team has put in and the award is something for the staff to reflect on. They are a champion team."
Of the key criteria measured, Rangiora Toyota was above the national market share for New Vehicles in the territory with an overall share of 21 per cent. In addition, the dealership led the field in passenger and commercial sales in their territory and achieved the prestigious triple crown. Delivering customer satisfaction was also an important factor in Rangiora's win.
A number of other dealers were recognised at the awards ceremony in Queenstown. Manawatu Toyota won the President's Trophy for consistent excellence in customer satisfaction while Miles Toyota took out the inaugural Excellence in Leadership Award and Lexus of Auckland was named Lexus Dealer of the Year.
Steve Prangnell, General Manager Sales and Operations for Toyota New Zealand, says the awards are an opportunity to recognise the pivotal role dealers play in Toyota's overall performance.
"2012 was our best sales year on record with Kiwis buying more new and used Toyotas in New Zealand than in any previous year, and purchasing a record number of parts and accessories," Mr Prangnell says. "It was also the year that marked Toyota's 25 years of market leadership in New Zealand and we could not have achieved these milestones without the support and commitment of our dealers around the country."
Mr Prangnell says Toyota's achievements are built on customer loyalty and belief in its brand and the performance of the dealers plays a big part in that.
"Congratulations to Rangiora Toyota, and all the other winners. Rangiora's record score illustrates the intensity of the competition and the commitment to continuous improvement amongst all Toyota dealers."
