The clever Prius c hybrid has a new look for 2015, but the updates don’t end there.
Premium trim materials are on offer on the s-Tech model, while instrument panels and other convenience controls have also been enhanced. The Prius c s-Tech also receives rear privacy glass, LED headlights and LED fog lamps.
In addition to the sharper, restyled front and rear, three new exterior colours also join the range for 2015: Zest, Tango and Cool Soda add even more dynamic character to a hybrid hatchback that’s anything but ordinary.
“The Prius c is leading a quiet revolution in the hybrid vehicle market,” says Neeraj Lala, Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Product Planning.
“This is a hybrid hatchback capable of incredible fuel economy and the lowest combined carbon emission figure in its category, yet it packs plenty of power for anyone on the go and comes highly specified with some great features like Bluetooth hands-free phone capabilities and audio streaming, as well as a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating.
“But the Prius c remains truly affordable and a smart, environmentally-considered alternative option for small fleets as well.”
With just 3.9-litres/100km combined fuel economy and 90g/km combined CO2 emissions, the Prius c takes all that is beneficial about leading-edge hybrid technology for small businesses and private buyers alike and delivers it in a fun-to-drive package.
Both the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the electric motor in the reliable Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) engine management system can power the car alone or in combination, allowing drivers to enjoy responsive power with low emissions and ultra-low fuel consumption.
Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) battery is designed to last the life of the vehicle and the Prius c is even covered by exactly the same comprehensive warranty and service agreement as other Toyota models, offering both private drivers and small fleets exceptional ‘whole cost of life’ motoring.
The Prius c features compact dimensions that are perfectly suited to busy urban life. But its modern hybrid system doesn’t compromise interior space at all; providing for a roomy hatchback that will seat five comfortably and still leave 305-litres of cargo capacity available in the boot.
Despite the clever technology onboard, the Prius c remains a functional and practical hatchback, offering small fleets a fantastic array of comfort and convenience features that make doing business on the move that much easier.
Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming capabilities (including Voice Recognition software in the Prius c s-Tech) are standard, as is cruise control, a keyless ‘smart entry’ system and the colourful, intuitive-to-use 3.5” colour Multi-Information Display (MID) screen, giving the driver information on Hybrid, ECO and EV driving modes and other vehicle data.
The Prius c’s MID screen even works out just how much this fantastic hatchback’s proven Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) system is saving in running costs. The unique Eco Drive Support Monitor gives an Eco score based on current fuel economy and how this translates into ‘real world’ dollar savings.
The 5-Star ANCAP safety rated Prius c has three-point ELR seatbelts fitted in all seating positions, ISO fixing points and tether anchors for child car seats, as well as child-proof rear door locks. There are seven airbags fitted as standard, including driver and passenger front, front side, front and rear curtain and driver’s knee airbags.
“The Prius c boasts fantastic fuel economy; the result of developing and improving Toyota’s proven Hybrid technology for over 40 years,” continues Mr. Lala.
“Those decades of experience and research mean we can offer a smart alternative power system that delivers ultra-low economy for an incredibly competitive price. That’s a huge win for private buyers and small fleets alike.”
The affordable and dependable 2015 Prius c range is available at Toyota dealers nationwide, with recommended selling prices starting at $30,830.
