Bowater Toyota has claimed the 2014 Dealer of the Year supreme award at Toyota New Zealand’s Annual Dealer Awards, in addition to being awarded the Excellence Cup for both New Vehicles, and Parts and Accessories.
The Yokoi Cup for Dealer of the Year is awarded for overall excellence in dealership operations, market leadership and dealership facilities.
Bowater Toyota – which operates in Nelson, Richmond and Motueka – claimed the top award at a glittering black tie event ahead of Dealer of the year finalists Miles Toyota and Tasman Toyota.
The company’s CEO, Tony Bowater, believes the award reflects the Bowater Toyota team’s ongoing commitment to ultimate customer service and sales performance.
“I was honoured to represent our team; they have gone above and beyond to ensure our clients keep smiling,” said Tony Bowater.
“It was incredibly rewarding to achieve this milestone with Toyota; the most competitive and successful franchise in New Zealand. After 27 years at Number One you cannot let your focus fade for a second.

Hawkes Bay Toyota, won the President’s Trophy for outstanding customer satisfaction – an award that rewards consistent excellence in customer satisfaction, and is chosen from the five top Customer Service dealerships in the franchise.
The Leadership Award was awarded to André Heyns for exemplary leadership in the advancement of both the Miles Toyota franchise and its people. Other coveted awards included the Toyota Financial Services Dealer of the Year, awarded to Manukau Toyota, while Lexus of Auckland City was named Lexus Dealer of The Year.
Steve Prangnell, General Manager Sales and Operations, says the Awards are an opportunity for Toyota New Zealand to thank dealers for their consistently high level of performance.
“The support and commitment of dealers around the country contributes to the ongoing trust and loyalty in the Toyota brand in New Zealand,” said Mr Prangnell.
“We have consistently topped the sales charts for 27 years, and it is important for Toyota to acknowledge the contribution dealers make to this achievement,” says Steve Prangnell.
“Having clear Awards criteria gives dealers targets to aim for, and every year the competition seems to be more intense as dealers aim for continuous improvement.”
