The arrival of the all new 2015 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid represents the largest scale update to this proven, popular sedan range in many years.
With a completely new exterior look and interior upgrades, Camry GL, Atara, Atara S and Atara SX complete the petrol range, with the Atara SX showcasing improved on-road dynamic.
While hybrid petrol-electric variants share the GL and Atara S grades with an additional Atara SL luxury grade, the hybrid model line-up has expanded from two to three grades, with grade names now aligned with Camry petrol models.
“Through progressive generations the Camry has become a dependable mainstay of the Toyota line-up, offering a great balance between power and economy, driver comfort, passenger space and competitive levels of specification,” says Spencer Morris, Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Product.
According to the car’s chief engineer Masato Katsumata, the new-look Camry was developed for customers who want a car with more emotional styling and greater driving enjoyment.
“We wanted to produce a Camry that appeals to its traditional customers as well as to younger buyers,” he says.
“As a result, the latest Camry is the boldest-looking Camry ever. The car is more expressive, more athletic and more confident.”
In fact, as far as the 2015 Camry exterior design goes, the only external panel that remains unchanged from the previous generation is the roof.

Sleek new Halogen headlight clusters feature a mix of grade-dependent chrome or piano black accents, while all models now boast standard LED Daytime Running Lights for improved safety; an important new attribute for a model with a solid reputation for comfortable open road cruising.
The exterior changes extend to the Camry’s flanks and rear, with newly designed rear combination tail lights and grade-specific bright or smoked chrome boot garnish. Newexterior colour options make their debut in the 2015 line-up also, with Ocean Mist and Indigo joining the large colour palette.
Inside the spacious cabin, Camry drivers will note updated seat fabrics in all grades, new colour combinations for the Atara SX’s leather sports seats, a newly designed three-spoke chrome-accented steering wheel featuring audio and Bluetooth hands-free phone controls, voice recognition on all Atara grades, as well as easy-to-use Display Audio systems for all iterations.
Two entirely new grades also join the Camry line-up for 2015.
The Camry Atara creates a stepping stone between the entry GL and the sportier themed Atara S and packs plenty of quality highlights, and a new Hybrid Atara S variant joins the Hybrid family positioned between the GL and Atara SL.
Camry’s Atara SX grade showcases a sportier character; 18” five spoke gloss black alloy wheels and sports suspension, a sport front lower radiator grille, rear spoiler, powered leather sports seats for the driver and interior trim accents.
What’s more the Camry Atara SX also features exclusively re-tuned Electronic Power Steering to provide for the sharper driver feedback expected from a sports-themed model.
The Camry Hybrid Atara SL adds premium grade functionality in the form of rain sensing wipers, halogen headlamps featuring automatic high beam and reverse tilt outside rear vision mirrors with memory settings. Wood panel accents and leather trimmed seats and armrest, powered driver and front passenger seats, a powered back window shade and a premium quality JBL ten-speaker audio system with inbuilt navigation all add to the Atara SL’s premium position with Camry’s revised line-up.
