Toyota Fortuner

Toyota Fortuner - Believe article June 2016

Toyota’s drawn on its proven four-wheel drive heritage and combined it with the premium level of fit, finish and standard specification already showcased in its comprehensive SUV range in order to introduce the all-new medium-rugged diesel Fortuner.

Fortuner is equipped with go-anywhere 4WD hardware, ready to tackle all the workday challenges and weekend thrills you’re keen to get out and experience.

The Fortuner lives up to its authentic all-terrain capabilities, with a rugged, high-riding exterior, robust wheel arch surrounds and running boards. Featuring an off-road-proven maximum wading depth of 700mm and excellent approach and departure angle geometry, the Fortuner ensures you’ll never get caught out in the rough stuff.

This tough seven-seater wears its legendary Hilux DNA on its sleeve. The entire range is powered by the same new powerful and reliable 130kW 2.8-litre four-cylinder, common rail direct- injection turbo-diesel as seen in the Hilux and the award-winning Land Cruiser Prado.  The smooth, modern engine delivers incredible peak torque of 450Nm at 1600-2400rpm (automatic) and 420Nm at 1400-2600rpm (manual), making the Fortuner an excellent tow vehicle; whether it’s a boat, a trailer full of dirt bikes or something necessary to your business, Toyota’s latest SUV allows you to bring along everything you need with ease.

While providing all that power, the Fortuner never forgets its manners; the turbo-diesel engine is also impressively quiet and efficient. The 4.2” Multi Information Display (MID) provides a broad range of important trip and vehicle information, including outside temperature, average fuel consumption levels, available fuel range, driving mode and more.

Inside the cabin the Fortuner presents an elegant interior, with plenty of space for up to seven occupants and a host of modern comfort and convenience features that Toyota’s loyal SUV customers have grown to expect.

The Fortuner lives up to the demands of modern life, with technology such as Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, a reversing camera, easy-to-manoeuvre ‘Touch Tumble’ seats, a handy keyless entry and start system along with (in GXL and Limited grades) satellite navigation, and an electrically opening rear door.

The Fortuner has the goods to back up the looks.  It’s New Zealand’s coolest new seven-seater SUV.  The Fortuner has its own unique design cues, clearly distinguishing it from its Hilux cousin, including sharp and sculpted exterior lines, slender headlamps and underbody protection.

A robust high body position and a chiselled front command attention, while a chrome beltline can be found on the GXL and Limited grades, further accentuating the Fortuner’s modern toughness.

The Fortuner has made its on air debut in New Zealand, featuring as the sponsor vehicle on Our First Home – the programme following Kiwi parents helping their kids with their first step on the property ladder.  The concept of family and supporting young Kiwis is well aligned with Toyota’s Believe values, if you can dream it you can do it - helping young New Zealanders into their own homes.
