Kiwi music icon and Toyota ambassador Dave Dobbyn welcomed New Zealanders' freedon through music, with a series of shows after his original tour was delayed earlier in the year due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
In the tour he aptly named his ‘Open Up Tour’, Dave performed some hidden gems from his catalogue alongside much-loved anthems. He played with his longstanding rhythm section of Jo Barus from Christchurch on bass and drummer Ross Burge from Auckland, together with Taranaki guitarist Victoria Girling-Butcher.
We took the time to catch up with Dave while he was in our region; while passionate about his music, he has an equal passion for Toyota. We asked him what it meant to be an ambassador for Toyota New Zealand.
Dave says he feels like ‘Knight Rider’ when driving his black Toyota GR Supra. He says it’s “unfathomably good”.
