Introducing the New Generation GR Yaris, Yaris Hatch and Yaris Cross. Fun runs deep in this family.

Toyota globally has revealed and launched this exciting Yaris line-up, which is set to turn heads and add a whole heap of fun and excitement too – transforming itself into a range with cult status.

Earlier in the year GR Yaris was world premiered. GR Yaris is Toyota’s rally-inspired pure performance car.

GR Yaris was born from Toyota’s title-winning experience in the World Rally Championship. Forged from success in the heat of competition, it brings motorsport technology and design directly to the world of the road car.

Powered by a new 200kW/360Nm1 three-cylinder, turbocharged engine, GR Yaris benefits from the design and engineering skills of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing and Tommi Mäkinen Racing, Toyota’s partner in the World Rally Championship.

Every aspect of the car has a performance focus: an all-new platform and engine, new suspension, lightweight construction, aerodynamic styling and a new GR-FOUR sports 4WD system. With high power and low weight, it has all the credentials for competition success – and for delivering exhilarating performance as a super-hot hatch for the road.

Scheduled for a New Zealand arrival later this year, GR Yaris is positioned at the top of the new-generation Yaris range.

Yaris Hatch is built on Toyota’s newly developed TNGA GA-B platform, delivering the exciting, fuel-efficient, nimble and fun drive that we’ve come to expect from the name – not to mention a whole lot of surprises inside.

Similarly, Toyota Motor Corporation has recently completed the long-awaited global launch of Yaris Cross, the new, highly desirable compact SUV.

Adding Yaris Cross to the line-up later in the year will provide a more comprehensive SUV range that spans Yaris Cross, C-HR, RAV4, Highlander, Fortuner, Land Cruiser Prado and the Land Cruiser 200 series.

Yaris Cross is an exciting new compact SUV and draws on Toyota’s strong heritage of advanced hybrid technology, small car design and SUV engineering.

Its fourth-generation hybrid synergy drive powertrain delivers exceptional performance and efficiency.

Yaris Cross is built on Toyota’s new TNGA-B compact car platform ensuring a high level of body rigidity and a well-balanced chassis, making the car responsive and agile and shares the exceptional design and packaging characterised in the original Yaris, with a roomy interior within compact dimensions.

Special attention has been given to power delivery, making the system very responsive to drive. In terms of emissions efficiency, the front-wheel-drive model starts from below 90g/km CO2.

Yaris Hatch and Yaris Cross are the first models to use Toyota’s latest 1.5 hybrid system, developed directly from the 2.0- and 2.5-litre engines used by recent new models, such as Corolla, C-HR, RAV4 and Camry. The new powertrains deliver class-leading economy and low emissions, two important ingredients for customers to flock into Toyota Stores in the coming months.
