Small Business Driver: LEVLD
Designed to ensure people of all different shapes, sizes, ethnicities and backgrounds can feel confident wearing activewear, LEVLD is the brain child of talented entrepreneur Tatiana Hewett-Kaulima, who founded the successful business aged just 20 years old.
As someone with a passion for fitness, Tatiana first identified a gap in the activewear market while living in Sydney at the age of 18. She noticed that the vast majority of activewear brands locked plus-sized and people with untraditional body shapes out of purchasing their products - something she was both discouraged and inspired by.
Launching LEVLD in 2019, Tatiana’s activewear brand is designed for bodies of all shapes and sizes, and is inspiring individuals across the country to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. Ranged in sizes S-XXL, LEVLD is non-discriminatory and available to Kiwis no matter what their body looks like.
Like retail businesses across the world, LEVLD was impacted hugely by the COVID-19 pandemic, unable to ship orders to customers throughout the Level 4 lockdown, and seeing a significant decline in sales across the board as New Zealand fluctuated in and out of Alert Levels over the following 12 months.
As a young, passionate entrepreneur, Tatiana hasn’t let the negatives of the pandemic control the narrative too much – she’s also found the downtime of the past year a positive in terms of refocusing on her vision for the business, and finds herself more driven than ever to ensure LEVLD continues to change lives through inspiring healthier lifestyles and body diversity.
As a full-time Massey University Bachelor of Business student running her business in parallel, being a recipient of Toyota’s Small Business Driver initiative has been a huge relief for Tatiana, particularly in terms of the access to a vehicle. Having a branded Toyota Highlander at her disposal means she can fulfil her many commitments on time, with ease, and in style.
