Toyota’s Yaris Cross compact SUV has introduced a new GR Sport model, inspired by the multi-world championship-winning achievements of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing.
Yaris Cross GR Sport adds exclusive exterior and interior features and revised suspension for sharper, more rewarding handling.
On the street, the new Yaris Cross GR Sport will be distinguished by new 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels with two 2-tone exterior colours available: Frosted White or Ruby with an ink painted roof. The sporting touches include a new mesh rear bumper garnish and unique front mesh grille with discreet GR badging. The inside boasts black interior featuring smoke silver ornamentation throughout, GR branded front sports seats and steering wheel.
Toyota General Manager of New Vehicles, Steve Prangnell says the new Yaris Cross GR Sport will retain all the qualities that helped the Yaris Cross win the 2022 World Urban Car of the Year title.
“Combining Toyota’s legendary history of small car and SUV design and engineering, the Yaris Cross GR Sport majors on quality and practicality. Customers will appreciate the high SUV driving position and the car-like dynamics, virtues that reflect those of the original Toyota RAV4 – the world’s first recreational Sports Utility Vehicle,” Steve says.
Dynamic Performance
Yaris Cross has a proven foundation for rewarding handling thanks to the GA-B platform – the same as that featured in the European Car of the Year 2021-winning Yaris hatchback – which gives it a low centre of gravity, a highly rigid body, and balanced chassis. In the GR Sport, performance has been sharpened with enhanced suspension, giving the driver better steering, roll and grip feel.
The Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport is powered by Toyota’s highly efficient three-cylinder, 1.5-litre Hybrid Dynamic Force engine. The powertrain’s long stroke, high-speed combustion, high 14:1 compression ratio, and temperature and pressure controls help the unit achieve a high thermal efficiency and low fuel consumption.
Practicality in spades
Convenience is designed-in with a 40:20:40 split folding rear seat and a split-folding deck board that allows load space to extend from 390 litres (with all seats in place) to a maximum of 1,097 litres. The skilful packaging maximises interior space within compact exterior dimensions that are ideal for agile urban manoeuvring.
As a high-grade model, the Yaris Cross GR Sport has a rich standard equipment specification, including dual-zone climate control with Nanoe X, Head-Up Display, Panoramic View Monitor, and rear privacy glass. The GR Sport also has the Toyota Safety Sense package of advanced active safety and driver assistance features as standard.
Toyota Driveaway Pricing
The Toyota Drive-away pricing includes all on road costs: WOF, registration, a full tank of fuel, the Toyota Care Service Advantage fixed price servicing package, floor mats, and a three year or 100,000 km warranty. The 2023 Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport will be priced at $43,290 driveaway.
