On Monday, starting at Auckland City Toyota in Mt Wellington, Auckland, the America’s Cup itself (known as the Auld Mug) goes on tour of New Zealand to build excitement for what is bound to be yet another epic America’s Cup regatta.

The Toyota Kiwi Cup Tour, a partnership between Toyota and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS), will visit yacht clubs, schools and Toyota Stores in 40 different locations over 19 days. The Auld Mug will be transported around the country in two Toyota Hilux Hybrid’s and a Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

As part of the Toyota Kiwi Cup Tour, when visiting local Toyota Stores, attendees will have the opportunity to sign the Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) supporters sail. This will be taken over to Barcelona and hung in the base where the ETNZ team prepare for their races. Attendees can also have their photo taken with the America's Cup and post their best wishes to the team, which recently won the Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta held at Barcelona, Spain.

Toyota New Zealand Assistant Vice President, Susanne Hardy, says being able to have the America’s Cup tour the country is an incredible way of sharing the spirit of the Cup with New Zealand.

“We are thrilled to be taking the America’s Cup on tour in partnership with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. It’s a great opportunity for Kiwis to see the Cup in person and be inspired by all that it brings. Innovation and collaboration are at the heart of our partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand, and the Toyota Kiwi Cup Tour harnesses that so well,” she says.

Susanne says partnering with RNZYS is collaboration at its best, working together to bring Kiwis along on the America's Cup journey even though the races will be held in Barcelona.

Toyota New Zealand wants to make this the most accessible America's Cup ever, providing coverage through Warner Bros. Discovery, ThreeNow and Stuff. Toyota’s association with the cup will cover 132 races across two months to 27th October.

Toyota New Zealand have been proudly supporting Emirates Team New Zealand for 32 years. The heart of the partnership is built around innovation, collaboration, imagination and determination.

Each time the team lifts their sails, the nation’s spirits are lifted along with them. Toyota is immensely proud of this long-standing partnership.
