Toyota Prius wins 2024 World Car Design of the Year

Signature-Class-Prius

Since its bold redesign in 2023, the Toyota Prius has been turning heads around the world and earning high praise with its new sporty exterior styling and sleek silhouette. This is Prius as you have never seen it before.

The new iteration of the Toyota Prius, which is now available in New Zealand under the Signature Class banner as a near new used car, has been recognised with the 2024 World Car Design of the Year – beating out 70 other competitors for the win.

Toyota New Zealand Vice President of Value Chain Optimisation Mark Young says the Toyota Prius continues to lead the way in hybrid technology and design, and the award is a testament to its innovative spirit and commitment to excellence.

“It is an honour for the Prius to be recognised for World Car Design of the Year. The World Car Design of the Year is the latest of 24 automotive industry awards and accolades for the new generation Prius.

“Our design and engineering teams reimagined what this iconic hybrid vehicle could be. We are thrilled that the World Car jury was equally captivated by the stunning design,” Mark says.

The new generation Prius looks, acts, and feels like a sports car, with sharply styled front and rear, big alloys, low profile tyres and plenty of technology. The leather, heated seats give supreme comfort.

Powered by a 2.0L petrol hybrid engine, the new Toyota Prius seats five comfortably and showcases a sleek new design featuring horizontal taillights and a distinctive ‘windswept’ shape emphasised by a low roof and severely angled windscreen.

“With the new Prius, new generation C-HR and our all-new BEV, the bZ4X, you can see the Toyota design language evolving. All three new models are characterised by a defining hammerhead shape to the front and feature slim headlight units that emphasise the car’s strong stance,” Mark says.

Inside, drivers can experience the future with an advanced digital dashboard and a user-friendly multimedia entertainment system. The multifunction steering wheel keeps control at the fingertips, and the push-button start/stop adds convenience. Drivers can choose a driving style with EV mode and selectable drive modes.

New generation Toyota Prius hybrid hatchbacks are now available nationwide. Enquire via your local Toyota Store or explore here: Signature Class Prius - Toyota NZ.
