Cooke Howlison Toyota Community Vans

Our Community Vans are available to groups and organisations in our community that need to transport people or goods to games, competitions, or other events.

The Dunedin van seats 12 people, and our Balclutha van seats 10 people. Both can be used for free for up to five days!

You might be part of a charity, non-profit, school, local sports team, church group, or other organisation. Tell us a bit about what you need the van for and the dates needed below, and we will get back to you soon!

Please note this van is not available for personal use, and the driver must hold a full unencumbered NZ Driver’s Licence. Each submission will be approved on a case-by-case basis; longer hire periods may be considered. Please outline your requirements below.

The Cooke Howlison Toyota Community Vans are available for charity and non-profit groups. Sports, Arts, Church or other community clubs and groups. The van is not available for personal use and each request will be approved by Cooke Howlison Toyota based on use need and available dates. A vehicle use agreement detailing insurance, fuel usage and driver requirements will be required to be signed prior to vehicle use.

FAQs

How much does it cost to hire one of the Community Vans?

There is no charge for hiring the van, however we do charge a $50 Cleaning Fee (payable upon pick-up) if you are not an associated partner of Cooke Howlison Toyota.

Does the van come with fuel?

Yes, you will receive the van with a full tank of fuel, and it must be returned with a full tank of fuel.

Is there a minimum age requirement for hiring the van?

Yes, drivers must be over the age of 25. They must also hold a full unencumbered NZ Driver’s Licence, and be competent at driving a large vehicle.

Can I drive it up and down the country?

We ask that the Community Van not travel more than 400km per trip. If you require it for longer distances, please include this in your booking request.

How many passengers do the vans seat?

Our Dunedin van has 12 seats (including the driver) and our Balclutha van has 10 seats (including the driver). These passenger limits must be adhered to.

Who covers the insurance?

Should the van become damaged or involved in an accident whilst out on hire, the hirer agrees to pay the $2,000 insurance excess applicable, or the cost of the damage, whichever is less. More information will be provided upon booking confirmation.

How long can the Community Vans be hired for?

Both vans are available for a maximum of 5 days, unless authorised by Cooke Howlison Toyota prior to booking.

What time can the van be collected and returned?

The van must be collected and returned during business hours, 8am – 5.30pm, Monday – Friday (unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon prior to booking), to allow time to complete documentation and inspections.

Where do I collect and return the van?

Both vans are to be collected from and returned to our Toyota premises.
