If the hybrid battery is starting to run low, you don't need to stop to recharge. The petrol engine and regenerative braking system seamlessly recharge the hybrid battery.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Powertrain
Since a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) has both an internal combustion engine and a battery that can be charged with electricity from an external source, the vehicle can be recharged via mains power or by the engine. When the charge in the main battery is depleted, the vehicle functions in the same way as a standard Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV).
