Capital Kiwi Visit
Published 5 November 2024
Supporting our local community here in Wellington is hugely important to our team at Rutherford & Bond and King Toyota. It’s a privilege to give back to those who have supported us over the years and build special connections. The Capital Kiwi Project is a local charity that we are extremely proud to support. With a mission to restore a large-scale Kiwi population into Wellington’s backyard, Capital Kiwi does an amazing job of protecting our national icon.
Recently, Marketing Manager, Phoebe and Managing Director, Hunter were fortunate to be invited out by the Capital Kiwi team to jump in one of the projects AWD Toyota RAV4's to help monitor Kiwi at Makara. They even got to release the fit and healthy Kiwi into the wild!
As seen in the image below, Hunter is releasing Papango, a Kiwi chick who reached 1.2kg – the weight where it can fight off stoats and live safely. Papango is one of the first homegrown Kiwis on the Wellington Hills in around 150 years. Phoebe and Hunter both said it was an incredible experience and said if you ever have the opportunity to meet a Kiwi, it’s something you won’t ever forget.
Thanks, Capital Kiwi! We look forward to following your journey and are extremely grateful to support the work you do.
