Schothorst Sixth Winner of TRS 2014

Steijn Schothorst has left behind a nightmare third round where he was unable to bank any points and won the second race of the fourth round at Hampton Downs.

Driving his McGregor-backed TRS car as part of defending champion team M2 Competition, Schothorst made a clean start and swept out to a one second lead while Egor Orudzhev alongside him was slowed by wheelspin off the line and dropped back, soon overtaken by Damon Leitch who had shot up through the leading group from a P6 start.

Leitch overtook Orudzhev when the Russian went slightly wide, and set about chasing leader Schothorst.
Championship leader Jann Mardenborough also had a fraught start and was swept up by the pack, ending up tenth and then eleventh as the race progressed. He clawed his way back to tenth at the finish.

Andrew Tang started off third spot and initially dropped back, then closed up on Orudzhev and harried him all the way to the flag.

The leading three at the finish were Schothorst, celebrating his first win of the 2014 championship, ahead of Leitch with Orudzhev third.
