Lando Norris on pole for race #1 in Toyota Racing Series at Teretonga Park

Lando Norris (16, Great Britain) cut the fastest lap time in qualifying setting a blazing 52.860 seconds to grant him pole position for race #1 this afternoon and crucially for race #3 – Spirit of a Nation tomorrow.

Ferdinand Habsburg (18, Austria) chased Norris hard and squeaked in under 53 seconds as well, the only other driver to do so. 

Artem Markelov (21, Russia), and local Invercargill racer, and last year’s winner of the Spirit of a Nation race, Brendon Leitch (20, New Zealand) rounded out the top four.

Race #1 was scheduled to start at 3pm this afternoon but a significant truck crash during the Super Trucks qualifying along the start-finish straight will delay this.  The truck driver has been taken to Invercargill Hospital to get checked out. 

A release with results from Race #1 will be filed post-race as soon as possible.
