Auer first to show hand
Experienced racer Lucas Auer was first to show form at the first round of the Castrol Toyota Racing Series by topping the second practice session on Thursday in Cromwell.
Sixteen cars took to the track at the Highlands Motorsport Park and after a strong early showing by Kiwi racers Liam Lawson, Brendon Leitch and Marcus Armstrong it was F1 hopeful Auer who went quickest in the second session to top the day's times.
Practice for the first round of the five event championship continues on Friday with qualifying and the first race on Saturday and further qualifying and two races - including the feature race - on Sunday.
The series culminates with the New Zealand Grand Prix meeting at Circuit Chris Amon Manfeild next month.
