Fourth race at Hampton Downs for Castrol Toyota Racing Series
The third round of the Castrol Toyota Racing Series this coming weekend at Hampton Downs will feature an additional race which will take place at 4.25pm local NZ time on Friday January 25th.
Two races were lost at Round 2 after cancellation of Sunday’s track activity – the Sunday morning race and the afternoon feature race, as well as qualifying for the feature race. The Sunday morning race – which has a grid formed on the results of the completed Saturday race with a reverse top six starting order – is the race now scheduled to run on Friday evening at Hampton Downs. No qualifying is required for this race and it will take place at the end of Friday practice, which goes on throughout the day at the circuit.
The remaining qualifying session and race that were lost at Teretonga will now be included in the schedule for the fourth round of the series, which takes place at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo, over the weekend of February 2nd and 3rd.
The grid for the Friday evening race at Hampton Downs - which will run over 20 laps of the National Circuit – will feature Japan's Kazuto Kotaka on pole position and Austria's Lucas Auer, who has driven in current Formula One machinery in post season testing and has four years of experience in the DTM, alongside him on the front row.
Marcus Armstrong and Liam Lawson who finished first and second last Saturday will start fifth and sixth on the grid. They are currently tied on points at the top of the championship table after four races.
