Lawson and Armstrong top Thursday timesheets
Kiwis Liam Lawson and Marcus Armstrong topped today's practice sessions at the second round of the Castrol Toyota Racing Series at Teretonga Park in Invercargill.
The sixteen cars in the series - up one from last week with young Australian racer Jackson Walls joining the series this weekend after turning 16 last week - ran two sessions on the track today as drivers got to grips with the world's most southerly circuit, also one of the fastest circuits in New Zealand.
Liam Lawson leads the points after the first of five rounds of the 2019 championship. Fellow Kiwi Marcus Armstrong is second, with reigning Asian Formula 3 champion Raoul Hyman of the United Kingdom in third.
Lawson had a minor off in the second session today, but there was no major damage to his car. Also quick was American Cameron Das - at the sharp end of the field in both sessions.
Invercargill's Brendon Leitch, in his sixth TRS championship, sits fourth in the title hunt with one race win last weekend at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell.
