Lawson tops final practice - Race 1 next
Castrol Toyota Racing Series championship leader Liam Lawson topped the fourth and final practice time sheets ahead of the first race of the weekend later this afternoon at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, but this time it was fellow Kiwi Brendon Leitch and the Czech Republic's Petr Ptacek on his tail.
Times were again very close in the 35 minute session, with half a second only covering the top 14 drivers. At one stage the top six were covered by just hundredths of a second, indicating how close the field will be over the races this weekend in the North Waikato.
Raoul Hyman continued his form with fourth, one place ahead of Marcus Armstrong, who had led the timesheets in the earlier third practice period. Lucas Auer was in sixth, but had been very quick throughout the session as was Calan Williams from Australia in seventh. Cameron Das, Artem Petrov and Australian Jackson Walls rounded out the top ten.
Final preparation is now underway in the garages ahead of the Race 1 start at 4.20pm, which will see Kazuto Kotaka on pole position for a 20 lap battle around the Hampton Downs circuit.
