Lawson finally confirmed in Red Bull F1 seat
It’s been the subject of unrelenting discussion and debate in recent weeks and months, but the final outcome was worth it.
Liam Lawson has been confirmed as a Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula One Team driver and will partner multiple race winner and four-times world champion Max Verstappen next season.
In doing so, the 2019 Castrol Toyota Racing Series Champion, 2019 New Zealand Grand Prix Winner and 2020 Castrol Toyota Racing Series runner-up has secured one of the best seats in any team in F1.
He has a golden opportunity to show the world how good he truly is in a competitive car after showcasing already his abilities in 11 Grand Prix with Scuderia AlphaTauri and Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team in 2023 and 2024 - and that means he is one step closer to being New Zealand’s next world champion.
“To be announced as an Oracle Red Bull Racing driver is a lifelong dream for me,” Lawson said in a statement.
“This is something I’ve wanted and worked towards since I was eight years old. It’s been an incredible journey so far. I want to say a massive thank you to the whole team at VCARB for their support, the last six races have played a huge part in my preparation for this next step.”
Well done Liam and all the very best from us all at Toyota New Zealand and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing NZ.
