2025 Toyota 86 Trophy Series
Criteria to apply for the CareVets Scholarship
o Hold of a racing licence (race, rally, stock cars, speedway, karting)
o Be eligible for a MSNZ C grade licence
o 25 years or younger
o New Zealand passport holder
o Previous experience limited to grassroots competition, ie karting, stock cars, speedway, club rallies, accredited MSNZ series – BMW, Mazda, Formula First, Formula Ford
Applications will close on Friday 21 March 2025
Scholarship Day will be organised on Monday 31st March 2025 at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park for the top 8 entries selected by the CareVets Scholarship panel.
Entry for the Scholarship Day is $500 (incl GST)
The Winner of the CareVets Scholarship will receive:
- Use of a TR86 Race Car for the four rounds
- Mechanic and Engineer services for the four rounds
- Branded Race Suit
2025 Toyota 86 Trophy Series
The series has been designed to provide a sustainable professional and competitive environment for the older Toyota TR86 model and an entry-level series during the winter for those drivers and teams perhaps looking to progress to the GR86 Championship or beyond.
Three circuits feature in the first Toyota 86 Trophy Series.
Hampton Downs hosts the first round in May at the NZIGP Finale weekend. The drivers then race at Taupo International Motorsport Park as part of the Taupo Winter Series in June, before heading to Manfeild - Circuit Amon for the third round in early July.
It’s back to Taupo for the final round, again as part of the Taupo Winter Series, with a mini-enduro race forming part of that final weekend.
Each race weekend will include two practice sessions, one qualifying session and two or three races giving drivers plenty of time to learn their cars and the circuit and to fine tune set up.
