Kiwi young guns aiming high in Townsville
Kiwi Toyota 86 racers Jaden Ransley and Peter Vodanovich are raring to go at the second round of the Australian Toyota 86 Championship, which takes place this weekend at Townsville as a support category for the annual V8 Supercar fixture.
Ransley and Vodanovich both shone at the first round, with Ransley winning a race at the Philip Island circuit to put the cat among the pigeons and show that the experienced Kiwi Toyota 86 racers will be a force to be reckoned with in the Australian championship.
Both have been hard at work getting themselves ready for the second round this weekend, with Vodanovich particularly attracting lots of interest after joining Paul Morris Motorsports and benefitting from plenty of driver tuition from the former Bathurst winner in recent weeks.
“I’m super pumped for Townsville this weekend with it being my first round with the Paul Morris Motorsports team," explained Vodanovich. "I’ve been doing a lot of training and really focusing on my technique so I’m hoping for a good second round.
Ransley is also excited about the Townsville event, adding; "Everything has been going well heading into this weekend's event. We have done some testing back home in the New Zealand car to make sure I’m in good shape heading into the Townsville weekend. And we're definitely hoping and aiming for a good result in the Miles Toyota car following an awesome first round for us."
Practice gets underway Friday with qualifying and two races on Saturday and the third race on Sunday afternoon.
